Goldie on Facebook
Pioneer, graffiti artist, drum'n'bass icon, DJ, actor and producer.
Goldie is a total original, a multi-talented complex shape shifter, who's sold more than 2.5 million records worldwide.
Against all odds, and despite a traumatic childhood, he succeeded in unleashing his boundless creativity from a very young age, having transformed an underground British sound into a mainstream international movement, whilst collaborating with major pop icons along the way.
Goldie has produced artistic works with 3D (Massive Attack) and Sarah Gregory, whilst being commissioned to produce pieces for Neneh Cherry, Noel Gallagher, Bjork, James Lavelle, Nellee Hooper, Kevin Spacey, The Sex Pistols, Snow Patrol, Pete Tong and Jason Statham to name but a few, depicting his prolific work.
2013 looks like being another BIG year for Goldie, a year in which he celebrates 20 years as a recording artist. To mark this impressive milestone, his label Metalheadz and the iconic FFRR dance label are coming together to release Goldie's first ever career-spanning retrospective entitled 'The Alchemist: The Best Of Goldie 1992-2012'.
"I've learned so much from my mistakes, I'm thinking of making a few more"... Goldie.
Ryan Hemsworth is a young producer from Canada with a remarkably productive output in the past two years and a totally unique approach to hip hop and R&B production.
With an early background as a singer and guitarist, he quickly weaned off rock into hip hop and more software oriented music, diving whole-heartedly into drum loops and samples. In 2011, his first release No Plans was featured on SPIN magazine’s Top 20 R&B albums of 2011 and he quickly followed up with A Way and Kitsch Genius, which got him increasingly noticed for a singular sound attracting a number of music critics and artists from across the country. He soon began cultivating relationships online and became a go-to producer for MCs like Main Attrakionz, Shady Blaze, and Deniro Farrar, helping craft a sound sitting somewhere between chill wave and trap rap. Hyperbolic Chamber Music, a collaborative project with NYC clothing brand Mishka, saw him at the helm of a 22-minute posse cut featuring 26 different rapper from across America, and his remix treatment of Grimes, Frank Ocean, and Danny Brown have kept his name spreading in the past year.
With his first label release, the Last Words EP released through Wedidit Collective, Ryan Hemsworth continues his sonic collages and explorations, digging even deeper into unexplored genres and delivering his finest work to date.
Emerging from the endless summers of Venice, CA to teaming up with Shlohmo, Jonwayne, D33J, RL Grime and more to form the Wedidit crew, Jasper Patterson aka Groundislava has transformed from bashful video gamer to full-fledged composer. The son of Michael Patterson (who directed A-Ha’s standout music video “Take On Me” and Paula Abdul’s “Opposites Attract”), Groundislava has roots that draw from 80s nostalgia, TV and pop culture that grow and transform into the 21st Century aesthetic of electronic music.
Recently tapped for official remixes of Slugabed and Shlohmo as well as Kutmah’s Brownswood compilation, Groundislava returns with the ‘Feel Me’ LP, the follow-up full-length to his self-titled 2011 debut. A mature step for the artist, ‘Feel Me’ showcases Groundislava’s unique sensibilities for developing sweeping soundscapes, luscious backdrops and somber tracks in a distinct sound all his own.
The subdued groove and melancholic melodies of tracks like “Suicide Mission” featuring ghostly vocals from Baths and “Bottle Service” featuring Shlohmo balance the big room dynamics and technicolor soundscape of tracks like “Olympia 2011” and the bass heavy boom of “Cool Party”. On others, like “TV Dream” featuring the enigmatic Clive Tanaka, Groundislava composes an ebullient ode to a friendship’s inception, soaking it in summery vibes and phantom playfulness.
‘Feel Me’ is available now on Friends of Friends. Cool to him.
